Talk through your symptoms
Discuss your ear history, hearing changes and concerns. The clinician examines both ears, even if only one feels blocked.

Removal, when suitable
If wax is present and microsuction is appropriate, it is removed under direct vision. You can ask to pause or stop.
- 03
Understand the findings
Your ears are checked again. Leave with aftercare guidance or signposting if another service is the right next step.
Sudden hearing loss needs urgent medical advice. Do not wait for a wax-removal appointment if hearing loss starts suddenly, worsens over days or weeks, or comes with earache or discharge. Ask for an urgent GP appointment or contact NHS 111. Read NHS hearing-loss guidance.
